“A healthy gut contains healthy bacteria and immune cells that ward off infectious agents like bacteria, viruses and fungi. A healthy gut also communicates with the brain through nerves and hormones, which helps maintain general health and well-being.”
SO WHAT ARE THE SIGNS OF AN UNHEALTHY GUT?
Some of the signs that your gut health might need a little help:
An upset stomach (which can look like gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea) can be a sign of an unhealthy gut! A balanced gut has an easier time processing food + eliminating waste.
Insomnia and poor sleep can actually be a result of poor gut health and lead to chronic fatigue. The majority of your serotonin – a hormone that affects sleep and mood – is made in your gut. Soooo… poor gut health can = poor sleep.
Skin irritation, like eczema or acne, can result from poor gut health.
This isn’t anywhere close to a complete list, but I really just wanted to share how connected all the systems in our bodies truly are!
